Livermore, Alameda County
Wine grapes have grown in the Livermore Valley since the 1840s, and the Wente and Concannon families both founded wineries here in 1883 that are still in business. Dozens of smaller wineries now line Tesla Road south of town. Livermore has another long-running claim: a light bulb at a city fire station has been burning since 1901.
